It was a beautiful day on Easter Saturday. The Fund-raising Committee at Llys Nini had organised an Easter Bonnet competition and an Easter Egg Hunt for the local children. There was a small entry fee (it was, after all a fund raising day as well as a ‘fun day’), with concessions for family groups.

In the olden days, the only way of identifying the owner of a dog or cat was to hope that it was wearing a collar with its address on it so it could be safely returned if it happened to get lost.

Although this is not the actual cat… it looks very similar! We had already done a full morning’s voluntary work for the animal centre… a dog, three rabbits and a cat had been transported to the vet’s surgery for treatment.

One of the great joys of our sailing years was whenever we were joined by dolphins. There are lots of them off the Welsh Coast, and we had the pleasure of their acrobatic cabarets also in the English Channel and the Bay of Biscay

On Thursday, The Bishop Of Swansea and Brecon, the Right Reverend Lord Bishop Anthony Pierce came to Llys Nini to dedicate and open the Rainbow Bridge. Last summer, we had a very successful camping holiday in France accompanied by our Staffie Cross, which I wrote about here (Click to read) We have now been informed that our lovely furry friend is considered to be a dangerous breed and will not be allowed into France.

As volunteer animal ambulance drivers at Llys Nini Animal Rescue Centre, we regularly transport a variety of animals to and from the local vet. This entails going in and out of the centre’s vast grounds at hours when the centre is closed to the public, early in the morning and late in the evening.
