It was a beautiful day on Easter Saturday. The Fund-raising Committee at Llys Nini had organised an Easter Bonnet competition and an Easter Egg Hunt for the local children.

There was a small entry fee (it was, after all a fund raising day as well as a ‘fun day’), with concessions for family groups. (more…)

In the olden days, the only way of identifying the owner of a dog or cat was to hope that it was wearing a collar with its address on it so it could be safely returned if it happened to get lost. (more…)

We had already done a full morning’s voluntary work for the animal centre… a dog, three rabbits and a cat had been transported to the vet’s surgery for treatment. (more…)

Today it was very cold, but also sunny, so we took the dog for a run along the beach at Llanelli. At least, she went for a run. We walked.

On Thursday, The Bishop Of Swansea and Brecon, the Right Reverend Lord Bishop Anthony Pierce came to Llys Nini to dedicate and open the Rainbow Bridge. It was also a celebration of the tenth anniversary of the opening of the lovely animal re-homing centre at Penllegaer, Swansea, after its move from the old Dogs’ Home at Singleton Park, Swansea.. There are plans to build a new Asda store in Gorseinon.

Having watched a programme on BBC One Wales this morning about the lack of good practice at Asda, I am more than ever convinced that the place to buy food is from local suppliers, like the farm shop and the excellent local butcher who of course knows his sources.
