How does compost know when to stop?
We compost just about everything possible … vegetable peelings, trimmings of leeks & caulis, dead flowers, lawn clippings, the contents of the Dyson, tea bags, egg shells (mashed) etc etc
Mother Nature does a great job for us and breaks everything down beautifully to a rich black mixture that we can then use to grow things in the garden some time later.
But how does this lovely stuff know when it is time to stop breaking everything down and to start to feed and nurture my plants?
Why does it not just eat them?
