It was reported today the prescription charges in England are to go up by a further 20p to £6.85 per item on April 1st this year.
As I said some time ago, on that very same day 1st April 2007, all prescription charges in Wales are to be abolished by order of the Welsh Assembly.
When one is ill it is unlikely that only one single item per prescription will be needed to put things right. So in England at least, being taken ill can be a very expensive business.
However, I suppose it is a case of ‘swings and roundabouts’ as I believe that most people in England are able to access a National Health Service dentist, whereas around here, most people have had to resort to signing up for private treatment because of a scarcity of NHS dentists.
